Yup, Ings is just another square peg in a round hole, another sticking plaster to treat a symptom rather than the actual root cause. He will be a total waste of money like Scamacca or any other striker that basically isn't a sprinter who can play football. It's so clear the one thing any striker of ours needs is pace and stamina, along with the ability to hold the ball up for 10 seconds if they can't just run past or through a defender until one of our other players can join them from the edge of our penalty area where they play 80% of the game.

If that quote from Moyes is true, then JESUS WEPT. Surely he can't have wanted him. Surely he's not that stupid to buy a player he knows he'll get no use out of and hasn't even analysed properly. If Sullivan said 'Ings or nothing' then that's the only way any of it makes sense.

Was really telling and really damning that Ings walked off shaking his head yesterday and did not look at the manager. He like so many others must be thinking 'What am I doing here? What's the point in this?'

No coincidence both his goals were from inside the six yard box where we've had sustained pressure around the box. That's his game. He can't just be a like for like like Antonio alternative, and that's the only kind of striker Moyes seems to set up to play with. Might as well just have Mbuemo on the bench as at least he's fast and will run himself into the ground.

Ings cuts an isolated lonely figure and is a complete waste of a shirt and substantial money as things stand. Unless we change how we play, he'll do nothing.

Ings i can only see is an "in or around the box player" doesn't have the legs to take any on 1 on 1 and pointless chasing down. He is fine as a target man but needs support - we dont play that way. We like to isolate our strikers and demoralise them.

I have a horrible feeling still that the Ings signing will be an almighty waste of money.

Nothing to do with his waning quality, but more to do with the way we play.

And he'll be our highest earner, for another 2 and a half years.

Now the relief is over, looking back on the game, it is actually fucking hilarious how shit we are.

Southampton will finish bottom, the worst attack you'll ever see, yet they rock up to our place and dominate the ball, we sat back with 10 men behind the ball, pumping it up long to Danny Ings. I mean, fucking hell.

Our tactic every single game, regardless of opposition, is to do exactly as above, and pray the opposition doesn't score, try to nick a set piece or hope that the ball falls for us in a good position. Not only is it an absolute fucking effort to witness, it's also really fucking embarrassing.

I think he makes a very good point.

The way we play is disgusting. It was better under Allardyce.

Emerson has been one of the few pleasant surprises this season.

I didn't think he was all that when we signed him, but he's turned out to be be pretty decent, so far, which was imperative once we stupidly gave Cresswell a contract extension this season.

Manuel,

The beautiful thing about supporting West Ham is, expect the unexpected. We will beat Newcastle on Wednesday. I also guarantee the atmosphere will be completely different from the off.

Not since when Alladyce cupped his ears have I seen a win with such a shocking performance. We were fucking dreadful, didnt deserve to win and yet again after a international break Moyes has managed to make us look worse.

The thing that fucks me off the most is dogshit teams coming to our ground and completely dominating the ball. We dont have any sort of press and when we do get the ball it goes around the back 4 then pumped forward over Ings head and just give the ball back to them. There's no strategy to our play at all. Ings worked hard but theres no service to him. Benrahma looked fucked and didnt want to dribble forward. Paqueta does few tidy bits but did fuck all in terms of trying to score or creating chances. Soucek goes and stands as a no 9 when we have the ball.

Surely its time he finally gets fucked off, we're playing with 10 men with him on the pitch its embarrassing. Cant pass, doesnt want to link the play. Looks slow and laboured now.

As i have said for most the season the only danger we have of going down is if Moyes stays in charge. Tonnes of games coming up, cant see that benefiting us at all. Really worried still as after yesterday are we better than Leicester, Bournemouth or Everton? I am not so sure, we scored from a set piece against the run of play and then hardly see the ball or had many chances.

This season and the manager cant fuck off soon enough

I tell you why he hooked him. Because Emerson plays the full back position as it should be played - Basically as a wing back. He works hard and gets his arse up the pitch whenever possible. He was arguably our hardest working player (with Rice).

Moyes, as usual, had settled for 1-0 and so brought Cresswell on with instructions to hold back and defend. I quote "Aaron, nothing silly noo, don't go forward with ball, poont it when ya get it, reet? Jus' fookin' hit ya' bastard long. An' noo fookin' rooning pass' half-way, ya coont. Ya roon pas' half way and I'll fookin' slit ye's throot, ya coont"

'Benrahama set the tone from the off with three wrong decisions and inept interplay.'

I'm glad I'm not the only one who clocked that. When Emerson overlapped him, instead of giving him the ball, he dribbled straight at him. WTF?

Emerson was as good as Benrahma was bad, in fact he was our main attacking threat — fuck knows why Moyes hooked him at the end?

Spot on. I didn't go yesterday as was out but me and father-in-law (Spurs fan) managed to find a sports bar. We both said how there was no "Come on you Irons!" at any of our corners of free-kicks. Just total apathy, as you say.

He also said that without Rice making tackles and interceptions he felt we would've lost. And I agreed. Rice was everywhere AGAIN. Without him I doubt we'd even have double figures for points.

How can we be so bad? With the players we have we should not be that bad.

w4 - Yea, we are absolutely shit, it's a mess from top to bottom. A lack of urgency is the thing that stands out for me the most, and without wanting to go down the whole stadium road again I really don't think it helps with the fans being so far from the pitch, the players don't feel that energy and passion, it's so fucking quiet over there, just total apathy.

Even against that shit yesterday they controlled most of the game, first half in particular, and our goal came completely out of the blue, lucky fucking Moyes! The rot has set in to such an extent now even with a new manager it's going to be a huge task to get us to look anything like a decent PL outfit again.

As much as I think we will stay up, if we don't improve on yesterday I wonder how we will win another game, I suppose the hope is that we do improve.

This is definitely worse than Allardyce. The football and arrogance from the manager is at very best, the same.

We have moved to a shit stadium.

Well needed 3 points. And although mathematically we are still in the relegation mix I do think that psychologically this was a massive step.

Some flashes of good stuff but in general we are still very average and hold no real threat on the break and don't create enough in the final third.

Why of why is Soucek still playing?

Why of why is Moyes playing Paqueta in the 10 role?

Why of why are we still playing one up front?

I'm trying to think of a regular starting central midfielder who we've had that has produced a worse collection of games than Soucek has produced this season? I know it's easy to get caught up in the here and now, but I'm struggling?

I thought Kovac was diabolical, but Soucek this season is making him look like prime Pirlo.
__________

Precisely my point I made to anyone wanted to hear yesterday. Kovak spent most of the tme running away from the ball with his hand in the air and soucek is in that mold now

What a schlerotic, featureless, meandering, stuttering, formless, fitfull and ultimately grim afternoon that was

Benrahama set the tone from the off with three wrong decisions and inept interplay.

Danny Ings has been turned in to a lone striker in the way that all of Moyes strikers have. Antonio came on and is now beyond parody, bowling and falling around like a drunk version of Adebeyo Akimembe, at least that bloke can score, btw

There was a time when we had " some" sort of style and purpose, Rics was the metronomic playmaker who would sit and probe and move the ball around as we unlocked and gained space and movement.....when did he last do that? Its a bunch of mildy talented players who literally have no game plan, no cohesion and no purpose

How Mark Warburton turns up and gets paid is beyoind me...get rid of the fraud along with Moyes today. Of course they wont and the grim fuck will be telling us how lucky we are to have him come August

Positive?s? Thought Fab was better than his best- couple of those low down to his left and right which are his problem areas he got with ease

Downes looksd solid

Cant see why anyone was raving about Paqueta either- thought he had a pooor first half and mildly better second- still dont see anything that justifies gthe $$$ or the hype.
